Short version: the Token Bench browser extension collects no data. On the website, the text you paste is counted in your browser and isn’t stored by us.

Token counting happens entirely inside your browser. The tokenizer is bundled with the extension itself, so counting your text requires no network request at all.
Specifically, the extension:
The only thing the extension stores is which model you chose to price against, a single short string such as gpt-6.1-sol, kept in Chrome’s own storage so your preference survives a restart. It syncs across your Chrome profile if you have Chrome Sync enabled, and it is never sent to us.
On the Token Bench website, token counting for OpenAI and open-source models runs entirely in your browser, and that text is never transmitted to us.
There is one exception, and it only happens if you explicitly click it: choosing “get exact count” for Claude or Gemini sends that text to our server, which forwards it to Anthropic’s or Google’s official token-counting endpoint and returns only a number. We do not store the text. Anthropic and Google handle that request under their own privacy policies.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits to each page. It doesn’t use cookies, doesn’t fingerprint your browser, and doesn’t follow you across other sites. It tells us things like how many people visited a page and which site referred them, not who you are.
If you use our API, standard request details such as the time, approximate size and response status may be recorded by our hosting provider for abuse prevention and capacity planning. We do not log the contents of the text you submit.
Token Bench doesn’t currently include affiliate or sponsored links. If we add any in future, they’ll be clearly labelled as sponsored, we won’t pass any information about you to the companies they link to, and they’ll never influence the pricing figures or model rankings shown on this site.
Token Bench is a developer tool and is not directed at children under 13.
